Type Locality and Naming

The type section is located in the area of Kaixin Ridge, Zhiduo County, Qinghai Province. It was named by the Qinghai Bureau of Geology and Mineral Resources in 1991. Upper unit of the Wuli Gr.

Synonym: Chamarniu Fm (spelling)


Lithology and Thickness

Conglomerate. Composed of grey thick-bedded sandy conglomerate, red conglomerate and grey-white sandy limestone, with a thickness of over 130 m (no top having been found).

Lower contact

Conformable contact with the underlying Nayixiong Fm

Unknown, no top having been found.

Regional extent

Distributed in the Kaixin Ridge and Wuli area.

Fossils

Abundant Brachiopod fossils, including Neowellerella dorshanmensis, Hemiptychina triplicate, Orbiculoidea sp., Perigeyerella costellata, Enteletina sinensis and Araxathyris araxaensis, belonging to the Araxathyris araxaensis-Perigeyerella costellata assemblage, whose features are similar to those of the Enteletina sinensis-Spinomarginifera kuichowensis alpha assemblage of the Changxing Fm (Changhsing Fm) in South China
